I’ve been selected as the fall artist Orvis in residence at the Honolulu Museum of Art Spalding House. Museum guests are invited to collaborate with me during my installation Ugly Jugs, by embelleshing wheel-thrown vessels to emulate a quirky pottery tradition out of the Appalachian region. Historically, the “ugly jug” was a vessel sculpted with the image of grotesque faces—to protect valuable household liquids from unwanted consumers. Spalding House visitors are welcome to visit and work with me in the Surface Gallery Saturdays 10am-4pm and Sundays noon-4pm, Oct. 18 through Nov. 23. Spalding House: 2411 Makiki
