The figure has been used for thousands of years to express aspects of life on a worldwide level. I find the figure to be a fascinating subject . It can be pushed and pulled, altered, abstracted and fragmented and yet audiences can still identify it. The essence of the figure is understood on a visceral level, especially since it is our initial point of reference. My work with the figure expresses personal experiences, identity, and relationships. Through the figure, I find the means to approach the sensitivities of my personal life and also the ability to address the larger concerns of my community.
